Tosai Harvest Underway

With the arrival of autumn, the pond harvest of this year’s tosai is progressing smoothly. We are checking the growth of each fish one by one, assessing condition, body shape, and pattern, and selecting fish for future development. This year we are also taking on varieties we have not worked with much before, including Ginrin Ochiba and Ginrin Kohaku. As autumn turns to winter, we are looking forward to seeing how they will develop. Please look forward to the growth of this new generation of koi born this year.

We Participated in the 18th Taagari Koi Show

On September 5, the 18th Taagari Koi Show was held in Yamakoshi, Nagaoka City. We entered our own Nishikigoi and received Best in Variety awards in both the Kohaku division and the Showa & Utsurimono division. We also earned many other awards, including 1st place in the Large size class and 2nd place. Although we fell short of the Grand Champion title, it was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the growth of each entry and their future potential—an encouragement for our ongoing breeding. We will continue to raise the quality of the Nishikigoi we carefully grow in Nagaoka, Niigata, and strive to deliver them at an even higher standard.

October Nishikigoi Pond Harvest & Sales Schedule Announced

The NND pond harvest season begins on October 8!
This year we will start with 2-year-old (Nisai) Nishikigoi. From October 8 to October 28, harvest will take place every weekday morning (excluding Saturdays and Sundays).
In the afternoon, the fish will be on display for sales from 13:30 to 15:00. You can select fish that have just been harvested from the pond while viewing them in person.
*On October 15 and October 28, the display sales will continue until 15:30.

Special Sales Days
During this harvest period, we especially recommend the following two days:

October 15 — Top-class 2-year-old (Nisai) Nishikigoi Sales Day
Focusing on high-quality Nisai with excellent future potential.

October 28 — Top-class 3-year-old (Sansai) Nishikigoi Sales Day
Featuring well-developed body conformation and impressive presence.

Tamasaba will also be available for sale on both days.

From promising young fish full of growth potential to finished high-quality Sansai, this is the best season to visit and select in person.

Daily Koi Selection Work Continues Despite the Summer Heat

Despite the intense summer heat and rainy days, NND continues netting and selection work almost every day. In koi breeding, the selection process is one of the most important steps in determining the quality and future potential of each fish. Each koi is carefully examined for its swimming style, pattern, body shape, and potential for future development. We also regularly share photos and updates of selected koi and daily activities at our facility on social media. Please take a look and follow their growth journey.

Koi Spawning Season Is Progressing Smoothly

This year, NND's koi spawning season is progressing smoothly. Seeing the healthy parent koi swimming actively gives us great anticipation for the birth of a new generation. After hatching, the young koi will continue to grow day by day. We are excited to see what kind of beautiful patterns and outstanding quality koi will be born this year.

2026 Pond Release Season Begins

Under clear and refreshing weather, NND has started this year's pond release of koi. We carefully release each fish into the ponds, wishing them healthy growth. We look forward to seeing them return stronger and more beautiful after growing in the rich natural environment.
